Saturday morning I had already deviated from the boxing plan. I started on laundry and then when we got a call from house shoppers, Joe and I both went into cleaning mode. I had a little laundry miss-hap. The brown pillow I washed, blew-up in the washing machine, leaving mouse nest like stuffing everywhere. I cleaned the clothes off the best I could as I loaded them into the drier... and I still had to clean the lint filter on the dryer three
times during the drying process.
The shoppers came and went, I did four loads of laundry, I finished reading the 35 page document of the "Covenants and Restrictions For Fairfield Glade" and I finished the James Patterson novel I had started on the way to TN.
We had started a fire in the fire pit to make it seem more inviting on a cool fall night. Once the shoppers were gone, Joe sat by the flames, enjoying a beer. By the time I got the bed made, with flannel sheets, and the clean cotton sheets packed away for TN, the fire had died and Joe was back inside watching TV.
Sunday morning "cartoons" with
I worked in the nursery, even though they weren't expecting me. Then Joe and I met for second service.
We spent much of the rest of the day going through the sports shed, garden shed, furnace room and three grain bins... sorting through everything. The way we are going, our next trailer load is going to be pretty full and heavy. We were hoping to keep the weight down after our last trip, getting the flat tire.
Dan came out to mow and then he and Valencia went to Subway with us. We ate back at the farm. It wasn't long and I was ready to call it a day, so they headed back to town in search of more excitement.
I took a long hot shower after Water Lilies since I was so cold. I don't like the process of getting used to cooler
Hot tea at home caused me to sit at my desk instead of working on packing boxes. I went though all my little scraps of notes and put everything on a few large pages, in their appropriate category.
It was a beautiful day for a ride... cool, sunny, and the fall foliage was starting to turn pretty colors.
We had a good ride, with Roni only spooking once, when a deer jumped out right behind him.
I bought gas on the way home and then Joe and I went to Growth Group.
The rains came as predicted Tuesday morning. I made lists (what to pack to take to TN., things to do while there, and a shopping list). And then I drove off in the rain, going to three stores. I spent a great deal of time trying on boots to replace mine that the sole got a big crack in.
The sky was such a pretty blue where the clouds were drifting away. With the corn gone, we can again see the trucks on I-74 silhouetted on the horizon. Soon, the nearly full moon could be seen in the clear, night sky.
I wanted to take another nap because I was so full, but needed to get the house straightened up for a 3:30 showing. I accidentally broke a full length mirror, which shattered all over the up stairs landing. I was less concerned about the bad luck than I was about getting it cleaned up before the house shoppers arrived.

Last week I had noticed little yellow dots on Roni's legs and tummy. I thought it was pollen, but it would not brush off. Lisa said they are bot fly eggs and if ingested can cause irritation of the stomach. I bought this grooming block Tuesday, and finally tried it out Thursday afternoon. It is like lava rock kind of and did the trick, removing the little yellow eggs.
Megan and her boyfriend came to look at our manure spreader. Joe demonstrated how it works. Paul was also interested in our Kabota tractor, but neither were sold as of yet. We are still waiting for our house buyers to sell their house. I pray for patience... and God gives me lots of time to learn and practice it.
I finished packing everything on the front porch that we are taking, and it sure feels bare and uninviting. It's been too cold to sit out there and will be for the rest of the winter anyway.
It has been a fairly productive day, so I am going to watch TV till bed time.
Did you know that there is a Boxing Day? Seems like there is a day for everything. It is unclear as to what the origins of Boxing Day are. It is the day-after-Christmas, a holiday celebrated by most countries in the British Commonwealth, but in a "what-were-we-doing-again? bout of
amnesia." None of them are really
sure what they're celebrating, when it started, or why.
Right now, for me, everyday is a boxing day. If I do a little at a time, it will all get boxed and be ready to load in less than two weeks.
