Last week, on my new blog, I was trying to compartmentalize my photos and script or get each to fit into their own "boxes", and then be able to move the boxes around on the page to organize my blog and keep it looking nice. Courtney worked with the HTML but it was not doable because the blog server wouldn't let us change the basic template. Maybe, eventually, I can learn and figure out how to do this "boxing" thing.
Saturday morning I had already deviated from the boxing plan. I started on laundry and then when we got a call from house shoppers, Joe and I both went into cleaning mode. I had a little laundry miss-hap. The brown pillow I washed, blew-up in the washing machine, leaving mouse nest like stuffing everywhere. I cleaned the clothes off the best I could as I loaded them into the drier... and I still had to clean the lint filter on the dryer three
times during the drying process.
The shoppers came and went, I did four loads of laundry, I finished reading the 35 page document of the "Covenants and Restrictions For Fairfield Glade" and I finished the James Patterson novel I had started on the way to TN.
Late afternoon, Joe, Kaysha and I went to a park in LeRoy we have never gone to before. We hiked through the woods for 45 minutes and then went to Jack's for dinner. Different house shoppers called just as we were leaving the restaurant, and they came out to look shortly after we got home.
We had started a fire in the fire pit to make it seem more inviting on a cool fall night. Once the shoppers were gone, Joe sat by the flames, enjoying a beer. By the time I got the bed made, with flannel sheets, and the clean cotton sheets packed away for TN, the fire had died and Joe was back inside watching TV.
Sunday morning "cartoons" with
Brother. I think he liked the birds better than the squirrel.
I worked in the nursery, even though they weren't expecting me. Then Joe and I met for second service.
We spent much of the rest of the day going through the sports shed, garden shed, furnace room and three grain bins... sorting through everything. The way we are going, our next trailer load is going to be pretty full and heavy. We were hoping to keep the weight down after our last trip, getting the flat tire.
Dan came out to mow and then he and Valencia went to Subway with us. We ate back at the farm. It wasn't long and I was ready to call it a day, so they headed back to town in search of more excitement.
I tried to get this photo out our bathroom window Monday morning. The neighbor was spreading lime. I somehow caught a reflection of the skylight.
I took a long hot shower after Water Lilies since I was so cold. I don't like the process of getting used to cooler
fall temperatures. Even Amiga and Roni seemed to be soaking up the sun rays as I came up the drive. They have really become good buddies.
Hot tea at home caused me to sit at my desk instead of working on packing boxes. I went though all my little scraps of notes and put everything on a few large pages, in their appropriate category.
After lunch I took Roni out to Moraine View, where we met Lisa and her son Dayne. A small flock of wild turkeys were "grazing" or whatever it is they do.
It was a beautiful day for a ride... cool, sunny, and the fall foliage was starting to turn pretty colors.
We had a good ride, with Roni only spooking once, when a deer jumped out right behind him.
I bought gas on the way home and then Joe and I went to Growth Group.
The rains came as predicted Tuesday morning. I made lists (what to pack to take to TN., things to do while there, and a shopping list). And then I drove off in the rain, going to three stores. I spent a great deal of time trying on boots to replace mine that the sole got a big crack in.
By the time I unloaded and stowed away my new purchases, including groceries, it was time to start the lamb stew. The rain finally quit in time to make for a beautiful sunset.
The sky was such a pretty blue where the clouds were drifting away. With the corn gone, we can again see the trucks on I-74 silhouetted on the horizon. Soon, the nearly full moon could be seen in the clear, night sky.
Before sun up, I lead the two horses from their stall to the front pasture, as I have been doing all week. I was at the Replex by 7:15 for our morning photo session. We are having a calendar made. We had a lot of fun setting up for the various months and made it look "hot" by the outdoor pool, even though it was only 51 degrees out.
We only had time for 30 minutes of exercising in the pool. A hot shower, hot tea when home, and a warm bed for a nap... were next to follow. Then I was back at the Replex by noon for the rest of our photo shots. We ended at Jack's and had a late lunch together.
I wanted to take another nap because I was so full, but needed to get the house straightened up for a 3:30 showing. I accidentally broke a full length mirror, which shattered all over the up stairs landing. I was less concerned about the bad luck than I was about getting it cleaned up before the house shoppers arrived.
While neatening up around the house I discovered this mess on the headboard of Britney's bed. It appears that Abbey had decided to un-box the kleenex. Each tissue had been ripped or chewed on, so had to be thrown away. I was thinking what a great hamster nest it would have made.
I did not get any boxing done all day, as I was so busy with the Water Lilies, but I did organize all of our Fairfield Glade papers and all our new house documents into two notebooks.
I was determined Thursday to get a bunch of stuff boxed up to be moved in two weeks. I put CDs in the boom box and cranked up the volume and started fitting things into boxes. Well, I soon got distracted by cleaning, believe it or not. I vacuumed and washed all the floor mats I wanted to take to TN. I also scrubbed out all the bedroom and bathroom trash cans. And I cleaned the oven using an orderless oven cleaner. I still had to open a window and turned on the ceiling fan.
I worked hard all day and made a lot of headway. Stuff to go to TN is collecting in the garage again, and half filled boxes are sitting around the house, so it doesn't look too good around here at the moment. I just tell house shoppers the situation.
Last week I had noticed little yellow dots on Roni's legs and tummy. I thought it was pollen, but it would not brush off. Lisa said they are bot fly eggs and if ingested can cause irritation of the stomach. I bought this grooming block Tuesday, and finally tried it out Thursday afternoon. It is like lava rock kind of and did the trick, removing the little yellow eggs.
Megan and her boyfriend came to look at our manure spreader. Joe demonstrated how it works. Paul was also interested in our Kabota tractor, but neither were sold as of yet. We are still waiting for our house buyers to sell their house. I pray for patience... and God gives me lots of time to learn and practice it.
Friday included Water Lilies, work on this blog, packing a few more boxes, cleaning the empty cabinets and drawers, a quick nap, and several cups of tea because it was cold and gloomy out most of the day.
I finished packing everything on the front porch that we are taking, and it sure feels bare and uninviting. It's been too cold to sit out there and will be for the rest of the winter anyway.
It has been a fairly productive day, so I am going to watch TV till bed time.
Did you know that there is a Boxing Day? Seems like there is a day for everything. It is unclear as to what the origins of Boxing Day are. It is the day-after-Christmas, a holiday celebrated by most countries in the British Commonwealth, but in a "what-were-we-doing-again? bout of
amnesia." None of them are really
sure what they're celebrating, when it started, or why.
Right now, for me, everyday is a boxing day. If I do a little at a time, it will all get boxed and be ready to load in less than two weeks.
