Chicks And Chickens

     No letters to Mom were written for three weeks because she came for a visit and then we spent the week at the lake in Holland Michigan.  Here are photos with captions to capture what has transpired in those three weeks.

We finally bought a horse trailer, and got the van rigged to pull it.

Britney returned from Guatemala even though her flight was canceled and she was not in the airport when Jean got there to pick her up.  She ended up grabbing a flight to New Jersey, staying there the night, and flew to Chicago the next morning.  Good thing she's no chicken.  Mom, Jean and

 Britney up at the airport and the 4 "Jean Chicks" (Beverly Jean, Jean Louise, Britney Jean and Brianna Jean) arrived at our farm after lunch.

We all hopped into the truck and Joe and I gave the girls a farm tour.

Dan came along on the bike, and took some photos.

Joe was Mom's tour guide  and I pointed things out to Jean and our girls.

Joe drove the perimeter of our farm to give Mom an idea of its size.

There was an arousing and hot game of croquet while Joe grilled.

During their 3 day stay, Jean and Brianna help with various jobs....and Mom was a good supervisor/adviser.

There was even some time spent relaxing and enjoying farm living as it should be.

We had our usual good time at the lake house in Holland Michigan.

Dan had to stay home because of Heartland classes, but it was good to know the farm was in able hands.

     We first met Addie and Zorro during our week in Holland.  Courtney saw an add on the internet, and we decided to make the 1 hour drive and give the Paso Fino a try.  Little did I know we would be buying these horses in September and November.  Here a is a series of pictures taken:

     As I look back over the last three weeks, it is amazing to see how the chicks and chickens have changed.  All the fowl are growing so fast.  However, they still haven't started laying eggs.  As the chicks have grown, I have also been modifying their housing. 

To get the big and little fowl acquainted, I fenced them in beside each other, both inside and outside of the coop.

Dan helped build a ramp so the growing chicks could get up to the roost and join the chickens up there at night.

Britney and I enjoyed taming the chicks as we feed them dandelion leaves and clover. 

I also take them fruit and veggie scraps.

So....we chicks enjoy watching and playing with the chicks and chickens.
And life on the farm continues to move on with each sun rise and sun set.
